A Legacy of Precision Marine Repair and Fabrication
Founded in 1934, E.J. Fields Machine Works has grown from a three-man shop into a trusted leader in marine and industrial repair. What started during the Great Depression under founder E.J. Fields has become a multi-location operation serving clients across the Gulf Coast and beyond.
In 1959, the company passed to Marian and Richard Romaire Sr., whose dedication and innovation shaped many of the repair processes still standard in the industry today. Their legacy was carried forward by Richard Romaire Jr., who took over in 1995 after decades of hands-on experience as a machinist, foreman, and general manager. Under his leadership, E.J. Fields became a recognized name in marine repair, fabrication, and propeller shaft services.
In 2005, the Morgan City Chamber of Commerce named E.J. Fields Machine Works Business of the Year. We’ve proudly supported community initiatives such as the Morgan City Main Street program and the Beautification Committee.
Continued growth led to a major expansion in 2013 with a new 6,000-square-foot propeller shaft facility equipped with 10- and 15-ton cranes and a 50,000-pound capacity designed to meet the evolving needs of the marine industry.
Today, our team of skilled machinists, fabricators, and field service experts carry forward a tradition of quality, safety, and innovation. From fabrication and small parts machining to propeller shaft repair by cladding of ABSGr2, AQ17, AQ19, and AQ22, E.J. Fields Machine Works delivers precision solutions that keep vessels moving and businesses running strong.
We are proud of our history and even more excited about the future.
